Still here, still studying, still working. I've been gone for more than a year I think, but I'm picking up at where I left off. There might be a new segment coming additionally to the Science and Travel aspect - I have lots of photos ^-^

The first week of the new semester is over. I totally forgot that I wanted to do a post each time a new semester starts, so sorry, her it is ._. The next 5 months will consist of me struggling against programming in Algorithmic Bioinformatics , which has a 50% homework hurdle to be entitled to take the exam at the end of the term,  Formal Language & Complexity  for which I already have a tutorial on one of the topics , Algorithms and Datastructures , Logic & Diskrete Structures and last but not least Statistics . Some people might wonder, thinking "hey, she was supposed to pass all those exams in the past semesters already - what a looser" Well fuck you too :) I am well aware that the 6. semester is (on paper) the term in which you write your bachelor thesis and start applying for the Master courses already, unfortunately not all of us make the cut in exact 6 terms. Hey guys, I was introduced to this fantastic platform a couple of days ago (probably would have been useful 2 years ago already). It's called the ROSALIND Platform and is a mainly bioinformatics exercise website, where you are challenged to engage real bioinformatics problems and brainbugs. I have started 2 days ago, and am very happy to say, I may not have made my Asian ancestors proud - but less ashamed^^ As you can see, the problems are organised in a Tree or List, from easy to tough and there is the possibility to add more problems if you come up with one yourself. You are not bound by the system to finish off the easy exercises before the hard ones, but I would advise you to start simple. I stumbled over a couple of silly mistakes in the beginning -_- so yeah. Go for it. Hey there, still writing for myself I am sitting 1 1/2h away from my last exam for this winter semester, studying in the cafeteria - the sun is shining like mad for the first time this year. I just remembered while looking at my course material at precipitated DNA that I have seen this before somewhere. Not in a lab, it was the open day at Tübingen University when I was 10 I think ._. My parents took my sister and me there, I wanted to play The Sims instead and ended up having a fight with my father, because he always kept saying  deep voice   "This is very important for your future, now get in the car!" My sister tried backing me up, but in the end we went. It was fun, most of the time I didn't understand any of the things that were going on around me, I realize now that there were lectures being held, some 'easy' stuff for potential freshmen.  I was looking for freebies. I know I have been gone for a long time in blog-units. As of the moment, my internet connection is still pending to install - so basically I am still in the middle of the move into my new nest. Aside from that there were two exams, my long standing visit to Stuttgart (where I have lived for more than 13 years) and some things I probably don't remember anymore. Oh but there was one which I am very proud to share of :D With 21 I finally got my licence - practical exam on the first try :p So here is for the thoughts of the day: the tired brain. Hey Guys, I'm finished with my first badge of exams So while the days get longer again and the snow starts melting, I want to share some of my personal geek collection with you ^-^ Big siblings make your life hell but also leave their imprints of music, games and hobbies on us - for me the most fun were probably the games she showed me :) Tomb Raider was cool, tough, and still somewhat girly with a lot of sexappeal and two big guns. Trondheim Trip in December 2014 :D From the 3rd til 8th of December I was in Norway for the first time in my life. This is my second trip to Scandinavia and I'd like to share with you guys what I was doing for those really tightly packed 6 days Gamle Bybro - Old Town Bridge in Trondheim When you set off for you trip, there are some things that could be useful to know: It get's dark already around 4pm in December - so keep that in mind when you plan to rent a car and don't know the area so well yet. I took the Vaernesekspressen from Vaernes Airport into the city  which is a 45min drive away (careful the English Version of the site is somehow broken, but Google translate can fully recover all the important information).  This is for students the cheapest way to get from the airport to Trondheim, it costs usually 150NK for adults, students get a special price of 100NK, if you book online it's even cheaper.                 ...

Hey there, coming week I have midterms for Methods of Biochemistry 2, simultaneously I'm reading "the search for the oldest stars" by Anna Frebel. I reached page 92 today, and so far I can say this book easily communicates Astrophysics in an understandable form. It is very interesting and not dry-written at all; my only concern lies in how much emphasis the author put on the work of female scientists and assistants in her book. Don't get me wrong, there is still a huge gap of recognition between the same amount of work men and women do, and it is of grave importance to remember who contributed something truly and not only because they were more accepted at the time (not only female assistants and scientists, but also jewish, who were prosecuted before and during WW2 i.e.) Miss Frebel seems to fangirl during the chapters which already I read, about science and especially the women of science. The day has 24 hours and although we never fill them, I feel tired in the morning. Even when I get to bed at 10pm (which is early - me grownup, me no need for sleep) or so, in the morning I feel fatigue already :/ Nonetheless, thinking about projects keeps me moving. For those who don't know me - I am currently doing some stuff: I am taking my driving licence now (yeah I am 21, but fuck you if you laugh about that xD ), Next month I am moving from my current student apartment into another place, I got the first EvoGen exam coming up, as well as Methods of Biochemistry 1..., And to top it all off... I need to remove my wisdom teeth. of all this only the last point makes me worry though. But it is necessary... all my friends scare me that it is very painful to remove them under local anaesthesia >__< and truth be told, I hoped after my milk teeth and my braces that this was the last time I'd to go to a dentist for more than just a checkup. One of my favorite movies. How often do I hear this sentence, every time when it is not us, ourselves saying it I cannot help but wonder. If it is true, truly something people fondly think of when remembering the short flicks on polaroid^^ V for Vendetta, I tend to like movies with an action filled plot, but mostly I like intriguing, charismatic and strong characters. Something we can identify with, i.e. Nothing pisses me personally off, like a whining, weak damsel in distress - weeping to be saved or at least spared. People only intrest me if they grow in the face of struggle. That thought sometimes scares me of myself, what happens if I should stop growing? What will we become if we loose our drive?
